Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS)

The Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS) was developed in 2014-2015 and implementation began in the 2016-2017 school year. The primary purpose of MLDS is the development and support of effective school leaders. Effective school leadership is an essential factor to ensure equitable access to excellent education for all Missouri students. MLDS provides a continuum of support for leaders throughout their careers. This includes professional development, mentoring, coaching, and a state-wide network of leaders.
The Northeast RPDC Leadership Development Specialist is charged with providing professional development and principal support that is available to all principals in the northeast region. Specialists also present leadership sessions at state-wide conferences and participate in state-wide initiatives related to school leadership in conjunction with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). The Northeast RPDC’s Leadership Development Specialist serves over 70 principals in the northeast region.
