In this tape, faculty in the Ames, Iowa school district conduct school wide action research. School faculties in this district have powerful support from their local board of education, their central office, and their state teacher’s association. As they use action research to guide site-based school improvement. In Ames, much attention, study, discussion, and negotiation occurred as educators and citizens in the community tried to figure out how to implement shared decision making that focused on improved student learning. Action research across the district is the result of their deliberations. On tape, the superintendent, associate superintendent, district action research coordinator, principals, facilitators, and teachers shared the kind of learning environment they are creating for themselves. |
