Goals
The purposes of the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) Plus are:
- to assist Missouri educators and citizens in an awareness and
understanding of the Grade Level Content Expectations (GLEs) that
are prescribed by the "No Child Left Behind" legislation as well as
their alignment to the Missouri Show-Me Standards and Curriculum
Frameworks;
- to facilitate the development and publication of a model
curriculum for each content area, beginning with the content areas
tested first through the "No Child Left Behind" legislation,
Communication Arts and Mathematics;
- to train a cadre of teachers with expertise in their content
area (Communication Arts or Mathematics) to serve as regional
leaders in order to enhance the opportunities for continued
professional development and support for districts in the region as
they align their curriculum with the GLEs;
- to provide quality professional development for teachers as they
teach and assess the GLEs using research-based instructional
strategies and performance-based assessments to improve student
achievement; and
- to provide on-going site-level support for low performing
schools as they incorporate the GLEs into their taught curriculum.
- MAP Plus will provide regional trainings to increase the
knowledge and skills of district personnel in: understanding the
requirements of NCLB legislation related to standards, assessments,
accountability, and adequate yearly progress; analyzing their MAP
assessment data to assist them in making better informed decisions
about the instructional needs of all students (including
subpopulations); and understanding the guidelines for MAP test
preparation, administration, and test material return.
